MICHAEL ALDRICH
It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Aldrich announces his passing on September 26, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He fought bravely for several years with unwavering resilience and optimism. He was a beloved husband, brother, and friend.
He was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on November 9, 1952 to the late Thelma Grace Sharp and Ralph Laroy Aldrich and is survived by his wife of 36 years, Julia Aldrich, his sister, Brenda Richey of Kennesaw, GA; his brother Jeffrey Aldrich (KT) of Skiatook, OK; and his niece, Madison Aldrich and nephew, Rick Polk (Letha).
Michael lived a fulfilling life alongside his wife, Julia, and he loved his family, friends and fur babies. He was a very artistic person. After attending Northern Michigan University and the Center for Creative Studies, he made a living working in the large format graphics industry, and as a commercial photographer.
Michael had a gentle soul. He was laid back, peaceful, sweet-tempered, and warmhearted. He had a deep empathy for people and animals. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be landscaping his yard, camping or star gazing. Music was a huge part of his life. He loved all kinds of music and played bass in one of the most popular cover bands in Detroit in the 1960’s.
So many friends had these quotes to say about Michael:
“Michael was such a free spirit and in inspiration to many”
“If I could summarize my times with Mike, it was that it was “a good time was had by all”. I consider myself fortunate and privileged to count myself as a good friend of his.”
“The smartest thing Mike ever did his entire life was move to Atlanta. Not because he moved there when I did, and we had great times, but because that’s where he met and married Julia. She was without a doubt the best thing that ever happened to him. She took care of him and loved him until the end and I will always love her for that and for just being her. And I will always love Mike for being the great friend that he was. RIP brother…see you in the next world”
“Michael was one who gave everyone’s life joy and meaning.”
“The world sure feels a lot dimmer without you here, Michael. You and Julia had the most beautiful and enchanting orbit together in the Universe. We consider it our good fortune to have been a part of such an endearing journey in friendship through the years. Michael aka “Doctor Free the Way” go make music in Spirit land, dear friend.”
