Pearlie Mayers, 90, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Atrium Hospice of Cabarrus County. Born in Robeson County on July 14, 1935, Pearlie was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Minnie (Moore) Mayers.
Ms. Mayers moved to Charlotte in 1958 and worked in sales for the Lions Club. Despite being visually impaired, she lived a full and purposeful life, never allowing her circumstances to define her. She was a devoted member of Eastway Church of God and had a deep love for helping others. Pearlie dearly loved Jesus and lived her faith daily through kindness, service, and compassion for everyone she met. Known for her generous spirit and hugs, she truly never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcome and valued. She was the last of twelve siblings.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Wensil, and her daughter, Sheila Thurman.
She is survived by a granddaughter, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish her memory. Loved ones find comfort knowing she is resting in the presence of the Lord.
Visitation for Ms. Pearlie Mayers will take place Friday, January 16, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. at Eastway Church of God, with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Kelly Shope. Burial will take place at Sharon Memorial Park.
