Phillip Hamer Easterling Sr., 92, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on November 30, 2024. Born December 12, 1931, Phillip was the son of the late James Walker Easterling and the late Arie Threatt Easterling.
Phillip is survived by his children Phyllis Easterling and Phillip Easterling Jr., grandchildren Jeffrey Mohr and Meredith Edwards, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife Juanita Saunders Easterling and daughters Anna Easterling and Rebecca Mohr.
Phillip was a combat veteran during the Korean War, serving in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Montrose. After he was honorably discharged he began a lengthy career with Southern Bell, lastly working as manager of switch services in Charlotte, NC.
Phillip was an avid boater and fisherman and loved going to the beach. He kept a garden, growing tomatoes every summer. He could often be seen walking his beloved dog Sandy in his neighborhood.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 12:30pm at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Reverend Ben Cline will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Carolina Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
