The Lord called Phyllis home during the early morning of November 27, 2022 while she was surrounded by loved ones.

 Phyllis was born January 16, 1942 to W.E. and Evelyn Hopwood. She is survived by her two siblings, William Hopwood (Judi) of Paducah, KY and Kelly Watkins of Paducah, KY.

Phyllis married Dr. Forbes M. Barton, Jr on April 20, 1975. They met while working at
Memorial Hospital in Charlotte, NC. They enjoyed 38 years of marriage before Forbes passed August 2013.

Phyllis is survived by her children Rick Bash of Surfside Beach, SC, Lisa Arrowood (Glenn) of Rock Hill, SC, Lori Maz (Matt) of San Diego, CA, Wendy Barton of Charlotte, NC, Holly Martinez (Andrew) of Swansboro, NC, Leta Stewart of Waxhaw, NC and Gwen Bozeman (Tom) of Travelers Rest, SC. And her loyal fur companion, Tyler.

Phyllis is survived by many grandchildren- Christina Bash, Melissa King, Michael King, Emily Singletary, Bryan Bozeman, Marshall Bozeman, Camille Bash, and Forbes Martinez. And great grandchildren- Makayla Huddleson, Hayven Bash, Kingston Bash-Dunlap, and Jackson Ludlaw.

Phyllis was a Registered Nurse. She started her career at Memorial Hospital. She also worked at the Brian Center Shamrock location and finished her career at Southminster.

Phyllis loved ALL her children, "those by birth and those by choice" as she used to say.

She loved spending time in the yard. Phyllis had the greenest thumb ever. She could bring back to life any plant she laid her hands on. She was also the ultimate home maker, from decorating and painting to making curtains and hemming neighbors' Halloween costumes.  

Phyllis spent her retirement years reading and studying the Bible, Phyllis loved the Lord & volunteering with the churches she attended and sponsored three World Vision children.
