Richard Harley “Bud” Hammond, Jr., 83, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away at home on December 23, 2021. He was born to the late Richard H. Hammond, Sr. and Kathleen Lyman Hammond on October 12, 1938 in Tampa, FL, and moved to Miami at an early age. He graduated from Coral Gables Senior High School and attended the University of Miami. He was President of RH Hammond Company, manufacturer of Dixie Lily food products in Hialeah, FL. Bud was also a member of the Biscayne Bay Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Meriam “Mimi” McDonald Hammond. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Lisa Hammond; his beloved granddaughter, Lindsay Hammond; and his sister, Susan Harkness.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wellmore of Tega Cay, Bud’s home for the last six years, as well as the staff of Hospice & Community Care and the attentive caregivers from Senior Helpers.
A private burial will take place in Fitzgerald, GA at a later date.
