Richard "Dick" P. Shea

Richard “Dick” P. Shea, 85, passed away on April 15, 2023 after a short illness.  Dick is survived by three sons, one daughter, and their spouses; two grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  His children include Richard (Estela) of Round Rock, TX; Greg (Tammy) of Lenoir, NC; Chuck (Mary) of Harrisburg, NC; and Sandra (Pat) of Charlotte, NC. His grandchildren include Michelle Shea of Killeen, TX and Richard Shea III of Austin, TX.  His step grandchildren include Courtney Marshall of Lenoir, NC, and Calistia Shea of Lenoir, NC.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Helen Shea, and his siblings, Martin, Mary Helen, Joseph, William, Bertille, and Edward.

Dick was born in Warren, OH on April 20, 1937.  After graduating from Pennsbury High School in Yardley, PA, he served 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard.  He earned a degree from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC.  After his military service, Dick worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years and retired from the Postal Service in 2005 after 40 years of service.   He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Senior Center, both in Charlotte.  Dick was a huge sports fan.  He played, coached, or watched most sporting events, even up to his death.

Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Monroe Road, Charlotte is serving the family.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11 a.m. followed by a private graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park, Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 4207 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC, 28215, https://www.ourladyoftheassumptioncharlotte.org.
