Robert Woodlock Murphy of Charlotte, N.C., passed away on July 28, 2025. Bob was born on January 28, 1960, in Greenfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from Sanderson High School and North Adams State College. A stellar athlete, he played baseball and football at Fork Union Military Academy, where he graduated second in the class of 1980. Bob continued his athletic career at the University of North Carolina, excelling in both sports.

However, his most outstanding achievement was being a loving father to his children, Madi and Ryan, whom he was exceptionally proud of. Spending time with his kids was the most important aspect of Bob's life.                             

A devoted fan of New England sports, particularly the Boston Red Sox, Bob enjoyed family gatherings and was always eager to plan the next one. He had a huge heart and was never hesitant to express his love for those close to him, always ending phone calls with "I love you." His passing has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, John A. Murphy and Carol Woodlock Murphy. He is survived by his children, Ryan Murphy and Madison Little of Charlotte; his sisters, Nancy of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Martha and her husband Dylan of Pittsboro, NC; his brothers, Sean and his wife Erin of Charlotte, Bill and his wife Tina of Los Angeles, and Dan and his wife Marie of Bradford, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his loving nieces: Leia and her husband John of Manchester, NH; Brianne and her husband Bror of Oslo, Norway; Ruthie of Pittsford, NC; as well as his nephews: Dan and his wife Kourtney of Bradford, Massachusetts; Jack and his wife Michelle of Wakefield, Massachusetts; and Donovan of Charlotte. Bob also leaves behind many friends. His family is especially grateful to Ryan's mother, Tami, for her tremendous support during this difficult time.

A visitation with friends and family will begin at 11:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at noon on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the Central Church of God, located at 5301 Sardis Rd., Charlotte, NC.
