Robert Wilber Obituary

Robert "Bob" Francis Wilber, 84,of Harrisburg, NC, passed away on Sunday, July 27th, surrounded by loved ones at Atrium Health Cabarrus.    

Bob was born June 28, 1941, in Binghamton, NY, the son of Francis Ernest Wilber and Myrle Thatcher Wilber.

Bob graduated from North High School in 1959. He went on to join the Army in 1964 and served as Military Police and served until he was honorably discharged in 1966.

Bob married the love of his life, Marilyn Louise Crimmins Wilber, on February 4th, 1967, in Johnson City, NY. They were married for 58 wonderful years. They had two sons, seven grandchildren, and four great-grand children.

Bob worked at IBM for over 26 years as an Engineer. His job is what brought him and his family, to North Carolina in 1978. During Bob's spare time he was passionate about coaching both sons in sports, gardening, his immense Christmas village, Knights of Columbus, reading, and especially, spending time with his family.

Bob was an active member of St. James The Greater Catholic Church, Master Gardener, and Knights of Columbus. Bob was known as "Bob, the builder" because he loved demolition and reconstruction. He used his skills and abilities to help others. Bob loved to entertain people with his one liner jokes, and stories about how things were when he was a young boy.

Remaining to cherish Bob's memory are his spouse, Marilyn, son, Robert "Bob" Wilber, his wife, Leigh Ann, his other son, Steven Wilber, his wife, Amanda, his grandchildren, Zack, Hattie, Dylan, Tamara, Heather, Kaitlyn, Kipton, his great-grand children, Barrett, Aiden, Tucker, and Shiloh.

Preceding Bob in death are his parents, sister, two brothers, and numerous niece and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st at St James Catholic Church, 139 Manor Ave SW, Concord, NC 28025, from 12:30 to 1:30. The Funeral Mass will begin directly after at 1:30. Immediately following the Funeral Mass, there will be a procession to St. James Catholic Cemetery at 2323 Gold Hill Rd, Concord, NC 28025, where Military Honors will be held.
