Robert “Bob” Anderson passed away peacefully August 14, 2023 in Waxhaw. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he and his wife Barbara moved to the Charlotte area in 1990. Shortly afterwards, he opened and operated his Antiques and Collectibles shop in downtown Waxhaw, until retiring in 2008.
Bob loved living life to its fullest. The call of distant lands was felt early on: his 5 years serving in the US Army took him to Korea, Okinawa, and mainland Japan. Much later, he and Barbara made their home in Paris, France for 5 years and then in Malaga, Spain for two years. Even after returning to the States, frequent overseas travels allowed Barbara and Bob to have many adventures exploring the world’s beauty and cultures, enjoying fine food, and making friends around the globe. Bob was a true “people person”, instantly engaging and charming all he met, and loving nothing better than a lively discussion of politics, religion, history, society, and any other controversial topic that was raised! Proud of both his Sicilian heritage and his New York upbringing, Bob openly admitted he had “a true New Yorker’s” blunt and unvarnished way of speaking his mind, oblivious to the offense he probably caused to those who didn’t know him well or love the true tender-hearted person he was!
Bob is survived by Barbara, his beloved wife of 54 years, and their son Brian and daughter-in-law Motoko, who reside in Japan.
Also, adult children Bobby, Debbi, Cathy, Todd and Julie; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his sister Patty and his brother David.
