Sarah Hopkins, 89, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at her home. Born in Hickory Grove, South Carolina on April 15, 1930, Sarah was the daughter of the late Oscar and Mamie (Fowler) Horne
Sarah married Glenn Hopkins, the love of her life, and they were married for 67 wonderful years. They were devoted to one another and to their family. Loving, helping, and caring for their family was an integral part of their lives and brought them much happiness. The Hopkins were active and longtime members of Memorial United Methodist Church. Sarah was a member of the Livingston Sunday School Class and had served on numerous committees.Their church and church family were an important part of their lives. She will be missed so much by her nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends and family.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Hopkins was a business administrator for Piedmont Natural Gas. She greeted everyone with a smile and a tinkle in her eye. Sarah and her late husband Glenn were never seen without the other. Glenn was known for his cheese straws, which he would give away tins of them at Christmas and other events,but Sarah always jumped in to remind him that she taught him how to make them. Her warm personally will be missed.
Sarah and Glenn never had children of their own but she survived several nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, who she adored.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 9, 2019, 1:00 PM-1:30 PM in Munday Hall at Memorial United Methodist Church. A funeral services will follow at 1:30 PM in the sanctuary of Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in the Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church
