Sopheap Kim Obituary

O Blessed One, Shakyamuni Buddha
Precious treasury of compassion,
Bestower of supreme inner peace,
You, who love all beings without exception,
Are the source of happiness and goodness;
And you guide us to the liberating path.
Your body is a wish fulfilling jewel,
Your speech is supreme, purifying nectar,
And your mind is refuge for all living beings.
With folded hands I turn to you,
Supreme unchanging friend,
I request from the depths of my heart:
Please give me the light of your wisdom
To dispel the darkness of my mind
And to heal my mental continuum.

Please nourish me with your goodness,
That I in turn may nourish all beings
With an unceasing banquet of delight.
Through your compassionate intention,
Your blessings and virtuous deeds,
And my strong wish to rely upon you,
May all suffering quickly cease
And all happiness and joy be fulfilled;
And may holy Dharma flourish for evermore.

An Obituary written by Sok Heng Kim, brother to Sopheap

My sister, Sopheap Leeandra Kim was born on December 5, 1980 in Cambodia. She was the oldest of 4 children born to Sokkim Bou and Thavy Chea.. First was my sister, then me, followed by our younger brother, and finally our youngest sister. As the eldest child, she was a loving and responsible sister who always cared for our family.

She grew up surrounded by her parents, brothers, and sisters, and she was known for her kind heart, gentle smile, and deep love for her family. When she was 5 years old, she began attending school in Cambodia. She was a hardworking student and completed high school at the age of 17. After graduating, she helped our parents with the family business.

At the age of 18, she married her husband, Meng Srun, in 1998. Together they built a loving family and shared many happy years together. In 1999, she gave birth to her first child, a son named Chea Sophal. She was blessed with 4 children in total. Her eldest child is her son, Chea Sophal followed by her 3 daughters are Chea Chan Sopha, Srun Angelina, and the youngest, Srun Angelica.

In 2003, my sister moved to California (USA). There, she started her own donut bakery business and worked very hard to make it successful. She operated her business in California for 5 years.
She decided to return to Cambodia in 2008, where she lived with her family for 12 years. Then in  2020, she moved to South Carolina (USA), where she lived until the day of her passing.
My sister was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She always worked hard to care for her children and put her family first. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, cooking delicious meals, and helping others whenever they needed her.

She passed away after battling illness. Although she is no longer with us, her love, kindness, and beautiful spirit will remain in our hearts forever. Throughout her life, my sister was a source of love and support to everyone who knew her. She touched many hearts with her warmth, strength, and caring spirit. She will always be deeply loved, dearly missed, and never forgotten.

Local services were handle by Steve Kuzma and Leslie Pina of Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Service in Charlotte. Through their hardwork and efforts my sister Sopheap was returned to Cambodia where our family concluded her funeral and burial.
