Stavros (Steve) Nikolaos Sotiropoulos, 69, passed away peacefully into the Lord on Thursday, October 16, 2025. He was born in Kaltezes, Arcadia, Greece, on July 25, 1956, to the late Nikolaos and Asimina Sotiropoulos.
Stavros emigrated to the United States in 1975 in pursuit of a better life and settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. He later earned his Plumbing License and worked alongside his cousin, Tom Giannibas, for many years. In Chicago, he met and married his beloved wife, Tina (Vlachos) Sotiropoulos, on July 30, 1985. Together, they built their home and raised their family in Charlotte.
Stavros is survived by his loving wife, Tina of Charlotte; his two sons, Nikolaos Sotiropoulos and Peter Sotiropoulos, and his fiancée, Diana Llamas, all of Chicago. He is also survived by his three siblings, Despoina Mitsias, Athanasia Tyrovolas, and Diamandis Sotiropoulos, along with their families, all of Greece; his cousins, Toula Photopoulos, Tom Giannibas, and Matoula Vastis and their families; and many nieces and nephews both in the United States and Greece.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, on Wednesday , October 22, 2025. The family will receive relatives and friends at 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00am. Interment will follow immediately at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral Youth Athletics in memory of Stavros Sotiropoulos.
