Steven Caliendo, 72, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on February 22, 2021. “Southside Steve” always had a smile and could chat it up with anyone he would meet, creating long-lasting friendships. Steve was that guy you could count on and he had very strong opinions that he shared freely. He proudly served in the US Army, a decorated Vietnam Veteran who served with the 190th Assault Helicopter Co. & the 199th Light Infantry Brigade. He was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan and was loyal to his alma mater, Notre Dame. He enjoyed karaoke and visiting Myrtle Beach. Steve will be missed by many including his closest friends Lori Bauman and Aurora Cain. He was proceeded in death by his brother, James Caliendo. He leaves behind family members, his sister Joesphine (Kenneth) Koerber, nieces Cindy (Bob) Baker, Kathy (Phillip) Stromer and Carolyn (Steve) Koerber, as well as a half-sister Linda (Dominc) Vitto. In addition, his great-nieces and nephews – Elyse, Patrick, Donna and PK, along with his great-great-nieces.
Please join us in remembering his youthful spirit, his smile, his laughter, his voice in song, and his strong devotion to our country and those that served alongside him.
