Susan Christine (Burgess) Wiley

Susan Christine Burgess Wiley, age 71, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away on October 8, 2025, surrounded by family.

She was born on June 19, 1954, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to John Mason Burgess and Virginia Christine Burgess. Susan deeply loved her husband, Ron and was especially grateful for the care he gave her while she was sick. They made many cherished memories together over the years and she especially loved their trips to Gatlinburg.  She loved her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. She always looked forward to the annual beach trip to North Myrtle Beach. She also was a true animal lover.  If you ever wondered what to get her, chocolate was always a favorite or anything blingy and shiny. Susan had a great sense of humor and always appreciated a bit of good-natured sarcasm. 
Susan was easygoing, kind, and never had a mean word to say about anyone, a true peace keeper. 

Susan is survived by her husband Ron Wiley; brother John Mason Burgess Jr. (Mackie); daughter April Christine Cotton and her husband Paul Cotton; stepchildren Angie Carter and her husband Kenny Carter; Chris Wiley and his wife Lacey Wiley; grandchildren Grant, Troy, Brock and Rhett Cotton, Cynthia Page, Brent Hutchins, Taylee Wiley and Paisley Wiley; great-grand daughter Karlia Page. Susan also has many cousins, aunts, and uncles that she loves dearly. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Mason Burgess and Virginia Christine Burgess and her brother David Wayne Burgess.

The visitation will be held Monday, October 13, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation, 5505 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212.

The funeral service will take place Tuesday, October 14, at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ, 600 E. 36th Street, Charlotte, NC 28205. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Ave., Charlotte, NC 28205.
