Susan Bentley Eaton, age 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at her home in Charlotte, NC. She was born January 23, 1949 in Aiken, SC to William Eugene “Bill” Bentley and Gladys (Sheppard) Bentley. She was a graduate of Kings College in Charlotte.
Susan was married to her husband, Tim Eaton, for 49 years. She worked in the insurance industry for 50 years for several companies including Grice Financial and Dixon-Wells. Her work led her to cherished relationships and friendships with countless people all of which she considered her “second family”.
Susan truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with her family and friends, listening to beach music, going to the beach and spending time with her grandchildren. She had other deep friendships through her husband’s affiliation in the entertainment business. This special brotherhood includes hundreds of musicians, recording artists as well as TV and radio personalities, all of whom adored her. One of the most enjoyable times of her life was the yearly trip to the beach for the Harding-West Reunion. The “bond” of these people was so very special to her. Susan had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
She is survived by her husband, Tim, daughter Jessica Ledford, son-in-law Ed, and grandchildren Lily and Jonah, also, her brother Bill Bentley Jr., his wife Patty, sister-in-laws, Shelley Hudson, Susan Bott, Gail Eaton, and countless nieces and nephews and their children all of which she loved.
Her faith in the Lord was expressed in her actions every day of her life. The promise made by our Lord and Savior has now been fulfilled. The gift of eternal life.
1 John 5:11 - “And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”
Arrangements have been handled by her husband’s long time friend Steve Kuzma and Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center.
The family will share details and location in the coming weeks of a Celebration of Life event.
