Terry Allen Brickey, 72, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on July 21, 2026.
Born on November 12, 1954, in Kingsport, Tennessee, at a young age he moved to Charlotte, NC, where he developed the strong work ethic, generous heart, and steadfast character that would define his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before building a career in construction and in building and grounds management.
For more than 21 years, Terry faithfully served as Facilities Manager at Providence Road Church of Christ, where his skilled craftsmanship, willingness to help others, and quiet dedication left a lasting impact on the church family, community neighbors, and countless individuals. Whether repairing, building, maintaining, or lending a hand wherever needed, Terry's readiness to serve reflected the way he lived every day. Those who knew Terry will remember his joyful spirit, hearty laughter, humorous stories, kind and compassionate heart, and his remarkable ability to make others feel welcome and cared for. He found great satisfaction in working with his hands, but his greatest legacy is the love, generosity, and encouragement he shared with family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Gail Phillip Brickey and Gerry Reed Brickey of Churchill, TN; his sister, Yvonne Brickey of Gate City, Virginia; his daughter, Doreen Carter of Charlotte, North Carolina; and his son, Jack Carter of Charlotte, North Carolina.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Anna Brickey; his brother, Sammy Brickey (Debbie) of Maiden, North Carolina; his sons, Jeff Carter (Lisa) of Matthews, North Carolina, and Nick Carter (Jeynne) of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his niece, Jessica Brickey LeRoy (Brandon) of Lincolnton, North Carolina, along with many extended family members, dear friends, and his church family.
A memorial service celebrating Terry's life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Providence Road Church of Christ. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Terry's memory.
Terry's life was a testament to faithful service, humble generosity, and unwavering love for others. His steady hands built many things, but the greatest work of his life was the lasting difference he made in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
