Thomas Hollingsworth

Tom (Tommy) Hollingsworth, 80, of Matthews, NC, passed away on May 8, 2023, with his family by his side. Born in Chattanooga, TN, he grew up in Lynchburg, VA, where he graduated from E.C. Glass High School. He attended VA Tech, Lynchburg College and lots of art and foreign language programs. 

Tom played sports both in high school and college and later enjoyed running and playing golf. In retirement he had the opportunity to live in Pinehurst and loved golfing everyday and painting. Tom was fortunate to have had careers that led to travels and friendships across the US. He made running routes in many major cities.

Tom is survived by his wife Sherry (Shepherd), son Maury Hollingsworth, daughter Wini Williams (Roy Munao) and grandchildren Olivia and Katie Williams, Cole and Alexa Hollingsworth. He is also survived by his two nephews, Cliff and Brian (Sue) Hollingsworth, great niece Sarah Hollingsworth, and sister-in-law Sally Gayle Revere. He was predeceased by his parents Bernice and Clifford, brother Jim, and niece Becky (Andy) Mudd.

His family will celebrate his life on one of his favorite golf courses at a later date.  Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation is entrusted with the arrangement.  (carolinafuneral.com)
