Virginia Christine (Moses) Burgess

Virginia Christine Burgess, 97 of Charlotte passed on Friday August 1, 2025 .  Born in Kings Port, Tennesse on August 12, 1927, Virginia was the daughter of the late John Franklin Moses and Nettie Mae Roberts Moses.  A resident of Charlotte for the past 81 yrs, Virginia had worked for Bell South before retiring after 21 yrs of service.  She had been a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of American.  Mrs. Burgess was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ 36th Street.

Mrs.Burgess was preceded in death by her husband of 63 yrs John Mason Burgess; son David Wayne Burgess;  sister Mildred Swett; brothers Hubert, Tommy and Buck Moses.

Surviving family members include her son J. Mackie Burgess, Jr; Susan Wiley and husband Ron; sister Patsy Moore; brother Johnny Moses; granddaughter April Cotton and husband Paul;  great grandchildren Grant, Troy, Brock and Rhett.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Aug 6th from 11AM-12 Noon at the Church of Jesus Christ 36th Street with a Service to follow at Noon.  Virginia will be laid to rest at Evergreen City Cemetery next to her husband John.
