I just learned of Ms. Mixon passing and was heart broken. She was my teacher for first and second grades. She was one of my favorite teachers and made a difference in my life.

Sandy and I worked together in l982-84 at Carolina Beach School where I was principal and she was a Reading Specialist. She was an excellent and understanding teacher and quite unflappable about human strangeness in little or big people. We had contact socially also and she was a good friend. I mourn that she died so young, such a vibrant, wonderful woman.

Sandy was such a nice friend. I met her through church and did several vile studies, went to church with her, movies, out for Thai food, and she had me over as her guest for holiday meals on more than one occasion when I would have otherwise been alone. She was an excellent cook, a prayer warrior and a listening ear, when my daughter passed away. Sandy, thank you for the love you gave me. Forever grateful and so sorry you're gone.

I have known Sandy for many years but became good friends after dealing with a situation on an Orlando all/niter. We shared occasional meals at a favorite restaurant when we craved Chinese and she was my angel when I needed someone to take me to a surgery. We always said how we should get together more often but as F/A's our schedules didn't always make that easy. We were sisters in Christ as we both shared our deep love for our precious Savior. Sandy isn't gone, she is just waiting for us. Come Lord Jesus❤️

Sandy was truly one of God's angels on this Earth. She was always the first to volunteer, the first to offer assistance, the first to console someone who need consolation. When I think of Sandy I think of how she exemplifies the hymn with the lines "We Are Here To Help Each Other, Walk The Walk And Bear The Load". Her sweet demeanor and bubbly personality were always evident. Sandy brought her light into my life in 1984 when she was first hired by Piedmont Airlines. I had just been hired as her new supervisor in Wilmington at that time. We enjoyed a laughter-filled supportive relationship for several years. She exemplified Piedmont's tagline, "Piedmont Carelines". My sincere condolences to her friends and family. I know Sandy is the jewel among the Piedmont Angels Carelines Team looking over all of us.

Everyone has already said it, but it is worth repeating...Sandy was just about the sweetest person I have ever met. Never had a bad thing to say about anyone and she always saw everything in her life as half full (rather than half empty), no matter what was going on in her life. I flew with her often on all nighters during the 12 years that Sterling was in grade school through High School. She never failed to ask me immediately how he was doing,, was truly interested in his achievements. Always made me believe she truly cared about his successes and was happy for him. Loved that. You would walk away from talking to her and feel loved! Sandy, you have earned your place in Heaven, I have no doubt. I will try to live my life accordingly , so that one day I might meet you there and see your beautiful smile again. I will miss you and think of you often.

So sorry to hear this sad news. I knew Sandy from high school, then we both attended UNCW, had teaching careers, and ironically both ended up working with Piedmont/US Airways. She was such a kind and gentle person, always eager to help others. She will be missed, and I would like to share my sincere sympathy with her brothers.

I'll always remember Sandy as she was one of the first flight attendants I flew with at Piedmont Airlines. She was so kind to a "newbie" , 30 years ago, and she graciously sent me a complimentary letter. She was always so cheerful and helpful to all she knew. I am so sorry for your loss and all of those that knew and loved her.

Sandy was Chuck and I supervisor at Piedmont Airlines and she always kept a photo of our first born son on her picture board . That always meant a lot to us. Her generous spirit and giving ways always held a special place in our hearts. I'm so proud I got to work beside her these last several years. Sandy was loved❤️
