October 29, 1944 ~ January 27, 2016 (age 71) 71 Years Old

William Francis Leiendecker, Jr., 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, surrounded by family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 12:45 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m., at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Charlotte. Father Mark Lawlor will be celebrating the mass. Following the internment at Crown Memorial Park in Pineville, NC, family and friends will gather at the church.

William, known as Bill by family and friends, was the son of the late William F. Leiendecker, Sr. and Jennie Cosentino Leiendecker. He was born on October 29, 1944 in Bellevue, PA. He moved with his family to Charlotte, NC when he was 15 years old. After completing school, he worked for 35 years at Westinghouse. He enjoyed his work there, and formed wonderful friendships that lasted for the rest of his life.

Bill was happily married to Virginia Ewing Leiendecker for 43 years. She was the love of his life, and he was devoted to her! Virginia died on March 27, 2015, ten months prior to Bill's passing, after bravely fighting cancer.

Bill was a wonderful father. He was always there to offer his love, support, and encouragement to his son and daughter.  He was also a wonderful grandfather, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. Bill was very good at keeping in touch with his children, grandchildren, other family members, and friends. He often called his loved ones by phone, to share his care, concern, and love. His calls will be missed by many.

Bill is survived by his son, Robert Leiendecker of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Jennifer Taylor and husband, Loyd of Indian Land, SC; grandchildren: Justin Taylor, Jeremy Taylor, and Riley Leiendecker; and brother Tom Leiendecker and wife, Winnie of Greensboro, NC.
