Shirley Jones

Shirley Melton Jones, 71, of Charlotte N.C. Passed away February 21, 2017. Born February 27, 1945 in Wichita Falls, TX. She was the daughter of the late Ruby Hudgins and C.D. Melton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Donald Jones (Big Simon). She leaves behind a daughter Shannon Johnson, and son-in-law Chris Johnson, and a grandson Cole Johnson of Charlotte, N.C., also 3 sisters, Martha Price of Rock Hill S.C., Cathy Husman of Chicago, Il, and Tammy Avalos of Rock Hill S.C., 2 brothers Russ Melton of Bushnell, FL and Steve Melton of Fresno, CA. She was a Graduate of Asheville Missions in 1966, and worked for 50 years in the nursing field. By the Grace of God her suffering has ended and she has gone on to a better place and will be missed more than words can say.

The visitation will be February 24, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28227. Reverend Patrick Hoare will Officiate. Burial Following at Sharon Memorial Park. Carolina Funeral Service and Cremation Center is Entrusted.

The Family Request In lieu of Flowers the memorials be made to the Kidney Foundation.
